Good site building resources
Let's keep it simple for now and add a list here to site building resources.
Please open in new tabs. Iframes doesn't behave nicely with other sites.
HTML/CSS in general
-
W3Schools- A little basic and old, but great
for fundamentals.
-
MDN Web Docs- The best
learning resource I can find. Incredibly thorough yet easy to understand. Using it to
code this site!
-
Sadgrl.online Webmastery Archive- Large, famous list of webmaster tools, guides and resources. Seems to be an archive
of the original webpage.
-
HTMLDog- Another good HTML (and CSS) resource
with examples.
-
Tesserae HTML/CSS tutorials- Very nice and detailed, though hasn't updated since 2022. The author is active on the
Neocities subreddit however.
-
Neocities Subreddit- The Neocities
community is pretty helpful here! Just don't spam, and check if your question has
already been answered before.
-
32bit Cafe- Also looks like a nice community. Great
resources and guides for everything if you click the provided navigation links :).
-
Web.dev- Slightly broken, super modern and
overly technical but still detailed enough for a good quick reference.
-
HTML/CSS Cheat Sheet- A cheat sheet for HTML,
CSS, and Javascript! Kind of messy in layout so you have to know what you're trying to
find.
-
CSS Tricks- Great resources for CSS usage
using nice visual examples.
-
Using Custom Fonts- Incredibly easy and short guide to using custom Google fonts (which are copyright
free) on your site. Alternatively you can try this one:
-
MartinDisk's Guide- This guide is longer and intended to use with downloaded fonts which is what I did at
first. Check comments for extra resources.
- Melonland Wiki- Melonland's wiki for web making guides and resources.
